What happens after you report a listing
The steps a correction goes through, what we check, how long it takes, and why we ask for the firm's own link.
2 min read · Updated August 22, 2026Reporting a listing is free, needs no account, and is the single most useful thing a reader can do for this board. Here is what happens to your report.
What we do with it
- You get a reference immediately. The confirmation shows something like
INQ-3F9C21A0. Keep it if you want to follow up. - We open the firm's own source. Not an aggregator, not a repost: the careers page or applicant tracking board the listing came from.
- We compare it to what we published. If the source and the listing disagree, the source wins. Always.
- The listing is corrected, closed or left alone, and the change appears on the next read.
Why we ask for the firm's link
A correction is only actionable if it can be checked against the employer. "This role is closed" cannot be verified. "This role is not on greenhouse.io/examplevc any more" can be, in about a minute.
If you do not have the link, send the report anyway. It just takes longer.
How long it takes
Usually within one working day for a clear correction with a source. Longer if the firm's own page is ambiguous, or if the source has moved and we have to find where it went.
What we will not do
- We will not remove a role because someone dislikes it being findable, unless the firm asks and we can confirm it is the firm.
- We will not change how a firm is described on request without evidence. Firm profiles come from the shared organization record and correcting one corrects it everywhere.
- We will not tell you who else reported the same listing.
If it is your firm
If you work at the firm and want a listing changed or removed, say so in the message and use an address at the firm's domain where you can. That lets us act on it faster. See ask us to change or remove a listing about your firm.

How to report a stale or incorrect role
Send the official source and the exact mismatch so the public listing can be checked without guessing.
